asking if it is my position that witnesses have made claims to be inspired prophets.... and saying if it is, maybe *we* can consider together some examples in the bible of others who have had wrong expectations and have gone ahead of god's timetable and see how god handled that..

imagine that it was possible to precisely measure the amount of suffering in the world at any given moment - a cosmic "pain meter".
decide for yourself what the unit of measurement would be.. we can only imagine a fraction of the combined suffering that is being felt right now.
physical pain, emotional despair, grief, desperation, loss, terror and hopelessness.. of course if there is an omniscient god then he knows to the last iota what that theoretical meter would read right now.. the bible contains a number of answers to the question of suffering - ever since the babylonian exile one popular answer has been to blame his nemesis the devil, "we know that we are children of god, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.

just found out that the australian governong body member known as geoffrey jackson got engaged to a sister about two weeks ago.
it really shocked me at first but then i remembered how other members of the gb have remarried in the past like daniel sidlik.

i'm a freelance writer, and am currently writing a story on the jehovah's witnesses church for a melbourne magazine.
i've spoken with an elder/spokesperson of a melbourne jw church, who explained the official positions of the church at length, but i'm really interested in getting more of a sense of the day to day experiences of jws, both current and former.
Thay are a dangerous bunch, mark our words.

there are so many angles that you could write several books let alone a magazine article.
Personally the best article will be one that alerts the public to just how much mind control they practice and to the Candace conti case in the U.S.
stick to cold hard facts.
sorry, i dont mean to tell you how to do your job! I just hate seeing them portrayed as just a slightly annoying alternative to mainstream christianity... they are down right dangerous. Dont be fooled by any spin doctor from them.

i was having a conversation with a jw relative recently i casually mentioned how much better the world is than a few centuries.
obviously the jw was incredulous.
the next day i found an email in my inbox listing a few qoutes from notable people saying how the world has gotten much worse since 1914 and that 1914 was a pivitol year.
A good reply but I would have ignored their points in reply as they did yours.
challenge them to answer yours one at a time.
ask for facts to back up their statements.
by the way, a great list of how things are better than ever.

i attended recently a circuit assembly and notice a change in the wording of the 2nd baptismal question .it used to be :.
"do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of jehovah's witnesses in association with god's spirit-directed organization?
now they changed it to :.
another degree of distance between the WTBTS and the rank and file?
when a JW hits the news for all the wrong reasons, the WTBTS can say ''oh, he/she is only an associate of an association...we are not even an organization''.
If this is true (and I think it will be confirmed) it has legal department stamped all over it. technicalities of words at play here.
